Hi! I'm Wendy (living in 1986)!
I am twelve years old and have always loved to write and draw. I also love the movie E.T. and have seen it about a thousand times. It makes me cry EVERY time. Spielberg movies are the best! I dream that someday I'll get to have a movie made about the book I'm writing.
What's this book about? It's about my big, huge, enormous 12-year-old life. Okay. I know I'm not old, but I do have a lot to say. My family just moved from Canada to the States and I cannot imagine ever having a more life-changing thing happen to me. So, I of course have to write about it (duh!).
I wanted the book to be called "North to South," but a mini-series recently took that name (darn it), so I think I'll call it "Wendy's Way - Diaries of a Canadian Teen." Okay. Kind of a long title. Oh well. It doesn't matter because I'm still writing it.
I should also explain that the original book is finished already. DONE. But the OLD me (in the year 2000) disagreed. She flew back to visit me in a time machine (yeah, that was weird) and said we really need to work on it together... so here we are on this website (What the heck is a website, anyway?). She's typing this all up and I'm dictating it to her so she doesn't mess up. She's the one who came up with the long title, so blame her, okay?

The Meaning of My Name
From Book 1, Chapter One: At Victory Baptist Church in Newmarket, Ontario, my Sunday school class performed an exercise to introduce ourselves to our classmates and the teacher. First we passed around a thick book. It told us the meanings of our names. I looked up my name, “Wendy,” and found the meaning was “wanderer.” I remember feeling disappointed that I didn’t find “certified genius” or “destined for happiness” next to my name. Gradually, however, I became intrigued to think I might be destined for some kind of mysterious journey.
About the Time Traveler (the one typing this all up):
I'm actually pretty amazed by her. I never thought I could do the stuff she has been doing lately. Apparently she has two little kids (she seems to like them a lot so I guess they're not brats), and she lives in Cleveland, Ohio. I asked her why she was living there, and she said that's where she fell in love with her husband. Yucky grown up stuff. Ack!
But the cool thing is that she actually gets to work as an artist at a "Gaming" company. I don't really understand what kind of games she works on, but at least she does get to do art, so I'm happy for her. She still likes to write, too.
I can't believe this, but she isn't afraid of talking in front of people anymore. She has even won trophies from speaking in contests, which is super-awesome! Since she isn't afraid of speaking anymore, now she teaches classes to other grown-ups about how to be creative and stuff. It seems weird to me that grown-ups have trouble being creative. Shouldn't they just get better at it as they get older? Anyway, I think she's pretty neat.
